The initials OLED comes from the English expression organic light-emitting diode; that is to say, "Organic light emitting diode" or "Organic light emitting diode" . This is the name of diode made with organic materials able to react to an electrical stimulus.

OLED technology, therefore, does not use semiconductors or metals. His organic film is electroluminescent : upon receiving electricity, generates and emits light .

It is important to keep in mind that, while an LED TV needs LEDs for the backlight of the screen, on an OLED TV they are the own organic diodes those that form the screen and light it up.
